• Research: Exposing the harm of ABA and amplifying the correlation between ABA and PTSD through scholarship and community-led inquiry.

• Empowerment: Guiding parents, professionals, and organizations toward rights-based, communication-first supports—never “cures.”

• Training & Speaking: Workshops on informed consent, communication access for nonspeaking, ASL, and AAC users, and practical strategies for inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming environments.

• Collaboration: Partnering with schools, preschools, JCCs, and nonprofits to enhance inclusion, update language, and challenge stereotypes from the ground up.

Henny Kupferstein, Ph.D. is an autistic humanistic psychologist with a specialization on autism research. Dr. Kupferstein is trained in music therapy, is an autistic autism researcher, parent of autistic children (grown), and piano pedagogy scientist with piano lesson curriculum portfolio.

Autism and perfect pitch are the reasons why my non-verbal autistic clients make glorious piano music when taught in the classical tradition. I use a scientifically-based method for teaching autistic students with perfect pitch.  In our research, we found a near 100% correlation between autism and perfect pitch (Kupferstein & Walsh, 2015). 

Henny’s research interests include perfect pitch, sensory integration, and autism. She is classically trained in piano, voice, and guitar. Henny also enjoys African drumming, Klezmer music, free improvisation and composing. Her current work focuses on sharing resources publicly, generating open access content for enrichment, and art merchandise on TrustHenny.com.
